Just days before his crucifixion, Jesus left Jerusalem’s temple area toward the Mount of Olives east of the city. Here his disciples were amazed at the glorious gold building shining in the sun. The Lord responded by telling them that the temple would soon be so destroyed that not even one stone would lie on top of another. This led Jesus to preach one of the most significant messages of his ministry called The Olivet Discourse. It explains the temple destruction but goes even beyond this to highlight the signs before his return. Dr. Randall Price of World of the Bible Ministries has led more than 100 trips to Israel and is one of the world’s temple experts. Through his generosity, we offer his teaching on these key chapters in Matthew 24–25.
